Plant and Soil, 2003Nitrogen-fixing bacteria were isolated from surface sterilized banana (Musa spp.) plants and constituted a minor proportion of banana endophytic bacteria. Some isolates were characterized by alloenzyme profiles, biochemical tests, 16S rRNA and rpoB partial gene sequences, plasmid profiles and plant colonization.

Nigerian Journal of Botany, 2023Musa species (spp) comprise genotypes with varying ploidy and fertility levels which limit seed production and damper its improvement. This study was aimed at assessing the ploidy and fertility of 11 Musa accessions in the germplasm held at Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, through crosses, using artificial hand-pollination to generate hybrids.
