ACUTE MUSCLE STRETCHING INHIBITS MUSCLE STRENGTH ENDURANCE PERFORMANCE

Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, 2005
Since strength and muscular strength endurance are linked, it is possible that the inhibitory influence that prior stretching has on strength can also extend to the reduction of muscle strength endurance. To date, however, studies measuring muscle strength endurance poststretching have been criticized because of problems with their reliability.

Trunk muscle endurance in Chinese adults

Journal of Back and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation, 2018
BACKGROUND: Previous studies in non-Chinese populations have found a relationship between performance on isometric trunk muscle endurance tests and low back pain (LBP). However, the relationship between trunk muscle endurance and LBP in Chinese populations has received little attention and age-referenced data have not been reported. OBJECTIVE: Evaluate

Endurance Training of Trunk Extensor Muscles

Physical Therapy, 1993
The purpose of this study was to assess the effects of an endurance exercise protocol on the isometric holding time of the trunk extensor muscles (mechanical fatigue measure) and on the recorded median frequency (MF) measurements from the surface electromyogram (physiological fatigue measure).Twenty-eight healthy female volunteers were selected to ...

Ventilatory muscle strength and endurance training

Journal of Applied Physiology, 1976
We studied respiratory mechanics in young volunteers before and after 5-wk training programs limited to the ventilatory muscles. Four strength trainers (S) performed repeated static maximum inspiratory and expiratory maneuvers against obstructed airways. Four endurance trainers (E) performed voluntary normocarbic hyperpnea to exhaustion.

Muscle carnitine after strenuous endurance exercise

Journal of Applied Physiology, 1992
The effect of very long endurance exercise on muscle carnitine was studied. Eighteen cross-country skiers took part in a race in the Alps (average inspired partial pressure of O2 100–110 Torr) that lasted on average 13 h 26 min. Carnitine intake, evaluated for 2 wk before the event, was 50 +/- 4 (SE) mg/day.

Endurance Exercise Mimetics in Skeletal Muscle

Current Sports Medicine Reports, 2010
Regular exercise promotes favorable structural and metabolic adaptations, especially in the skeletal muscle, to boost endurance and cardiovascular health. These changes are driven by a network of incompletely understood molecular pathways that trigger transcriptional remodeling of the skeletal muscle. In this article, we describe recent advances in the
