Neoplasms and Mass Lesions Involving Muscle

1996
The ability of MRI to demonstrate soft tissue lesions is unexcelled by other imaging methods as reported by many authors since 1984.1-13 The sensitivity and discriminating ability of MRI for muscle and connective tissue pathology is shown throughout this book.

Incidence of mature adipocytic component within cutaneous smooth muscle neoplasms

Journal of Cutaneous Pathology, 2016
Angioleiomyoma is a benign smooth muscle tumor of the subcutis. The presence of mature adipocytes has been described in this tumor under the rubric of ‘angiolipoleiomyoma’ or, erroneously, ‘angiomyolipoma’ (these are not PEComas). Previous studies have found adipocytes in only 2–3% of angioleiomyoma.

Smooth Muscle Neoplasms of the Urinary Bladder

The American Journal of Surgical Pathology, 2002
We report the clinicopathologic, immunohistochemical, and DNA ploidy findings of 18 leiomyosarcomas of the urinary bladder. In addition, we compare these malignant smooth muscle tumors with 10 cases of urinary bladder leiomyoma. The 14 male and four female patients with leiomyosarcoma ranged in age from 25 to 88 years (mean 64 years). The tumors ranged

[Atypical intradermal smooth-muscle neoplasm].

Annales de dermatologie et de venereologie, 2018
We report herein a case of atypical intradermal smooth-muscle neoplasm.A 58-year-old man presented with a painless pinkish-white chest nodule ongoing for two years. Histopathology revealed a proliferation of intradermal smooth-muscle cells. Some atypia and 5 mitoses were seen in the most mitotic fields.

Beyond Smooth Muscle—Other Mesenchymal Neoplasms of the Uterus

Surgical Pathology Clinics, 2019
Mesenchymal tumors of the uterus comprise a heterogeneous group of neoplasms of varied biologic potential. In addition to being host to several anatomically unique entities, the uterus may contain mesenchymal neoplasms typically found elsewhere in the body.

Metastasis of malignant neoplasms to skeletal muscle.

Revista espanola de oncologia, 1986
Malignant neoplasms were found at 194 of 723 autopsies carried out at the Marqués de Valdecilla National Medical Center in the period 1980-1982, and in 50 of these there was secondary involvement of skeletal muscle. In 16 cases (8.2%) the primary tumour and/or its metastases had invaded skeletal muscle, but in 34 (17.5%) true macroscopic or microscopic

Progression of Neoplasms Deriving from Muscle Tissues

1989
Generally, three types of musculature occur in human histopathology: the smooth musculature, as it appears in the intestinal tract and the uterus; the transverse striated musculature, also known as skeletal musculature, comprising the bulk of the body weight; and finally, the cardiac musculature present in the heart and in the portions of the large ...
