Duck Viral Enteritis in Domestic Muscovy Ducks in Pennsylvania
Avian Diseases, 1993Duck viral enteritis (DVE) outbreaks occurred at two different locations in Pennsylvania in 1991 and 1992. In the first outbreak, four ducks died out of a group of 30 domestic ducks; in the second outbreak, 65 ducks died out of a group of 114 domestic ducks, and 15 domestic geese died as well. A variety of species of ducks were present on both premises,

Avian Pathology, 2006
Between 1997 and 1999 several cases of a new disease in Muscovy ducks were reported in Pennsylvania, USA. The cases were characterized by locomotor dysfunction, weakness, recumbency, 40 to 60% morbidity and 10 to 40% mortality. The most characteristic microscopic lesions were moderate to severe degenerative rhabodomyopathy. In order to characterize the

Muscovy Duck Mortality Not Caused by Haemoproteus
Journal of Wildlife Diseases, 19854 May 1984. been recorded. Affected ducks have been in small farm flocks, but mortality has been high and has continued until the flock was moved from the pond. In several cases all of the ducks in the flock have died over a period of several weeks. Clinical signs included weakness and ataxia with respiratory distress terminally.

Efficacy of a new attenuated duck parvovirosis vaccine in Muscovy ducks
Veterinary Record, 2014The efficacy of a new live attenuated parvovirosis vaccine was tested in conventional ducklings against Derzsy's disease by comparing two vaccination regimens. Ducklings were vaccinated with either one injection at 17 days of age or two injections at 1 and 17 days of age.

A review on the productive potential of the Muscovy Duck
World's Poultry Science Journal, 2021Muscovy ducks (Cairina moschata) are one of the most exploited species in the duck-farming industry due to their large size, meat quality, and considerable economic value for small farmers and larg...

For members of the family Parvoviridae, rescue of infectious virus from recombinant plasmid is usually done in cultured cells. In this study, the whole genome of the pathogenic Muscovy duck parvovirus (MDPV) strain YY was cloned into the pBluescript II (SK) vector, generating recombinant plasmid pYY.

The recombinant Muscovy duck parvovirus (rMDPV) has been recently characterized and identified in China. However, whether other additional rMDPV field isolates exist, and whether these strains possess common molecular characteristics, remain to be explored.

SUSCEPTIBILITY OF PEKIN AND MUSCOVY DUCKS TO HAEMOPROTEUS NETTIONIS
Journal of Wildlife Diseases, 1984Domestic muscovy (Caririna moschata) and pekin (Anas platyrhynchos) ducklings were exposed to or injected with homogenates of Culicoides flies collected at White Pine, Michigan. Gametocytes of Haemoproteus nettionis were detected in both species of ducks at 16 days post-exposure. Culicoides downesi was indicated as a vector of H.

Early development of gonads in Muscovy duck embryos
British Poultry Science, 2015Characteristics of gonadal development were investigated in Muscovy duck embryos at various embryonic ages. Hematoxylin-Eosin and periodic acid-Schiff staining were used to identify primordial germ cells, oogonia and sustentacular cells. Gene specific primers were designed based on conserved regions of duck antimullerian hormone (AMH), oestrogen ...

Biochemical and genomic characterization of muscovy duck parvovirus
Archives of Virology, 1994A duck parvovirus (DPV) isolated from muscovy ducks during the epizootic in France in 1989 was purified from inoculated allanto-amniotic fluids by CsCl density gradient centrifugation and characterized. Full and empty non-enveloped icosahedral viral particles were observed banding at densities of 1.39 to 1.42 and 1.38 respectively, with a diameter of ...
