Use of Autochthonous Lactic Acid Bacteria as Probiotic Additives for Muscovy Ducks in Housing [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Poultry Science
This study aimed to investigate the effects of autochthonous lactic acid bacteria (LAB) as probiotic additives for Muscovy ducks on performance, carcass traits, and serum biochemical parameters. LAB were isolated from the intestinal content of 12 Muscovy

Restoration of ancestral transcriptional plasticity contributes to plastic heterosis in fatty liver of hybrid ducks

open access: yesCommunications Biology
Phenotypic plasticity enables organisms to modify their phenotypes in response to environmental fluctuations. Interspecific hybrids can inherit parental phenotypic plasticity and even exhibit enhanced physiological performance under analogous ...

Feather Eating as Stressor in the Muscovy Duck

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1964

Severe feather eating presumably represents not only a physical stressor due to the loss of feathers and blood but also a mental one, considering the almost permanent anxiety and excitement of the ...

Bioavailability and pharmacokinetics of cefotaxime in Muscovy ducks

open access: yesInternational Journal of Pharmacology and Toxicology, 2016
The pharmacokinetic profile of cefotaxime following a single intravenous (IV) and intramuscular (IM) injection was studied in Muscovy ducks. Cefotaxime was given at a dose rate of 25 mg/kg b.wt. for both routes. After IV injection, the plasma levels of cefotaxime estimated at 0.08 h was 70.87 μg/ml, which declined gradually and cefotaxime was detected
