Stable Isotope Analysis (δ13C and δ15N) of Baleen Plates Reveals Feeding Patterns in Stranded Humpback Whales (Megaptera novaeangliae) Along the Brazilian Coast

open access: yesMarine Mammal Science, Volume 42, Issue 3, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae) from breeding stock A migrate annually between Antarctic feeding grounds (~65° S) and Brazilian breeding areas (~17° S). Traditionally considered to fast during migration, recent feeding observations and increased strandings along southeastern Brazil (~23° S) raise questions about possible shifts in ...

Museu efémero

open access: yes, 2012
When visiting a museum, one expects an exchange of values and knowledge. An unique and captivating experience on a subject of interest to both the liaison and the visitor, engaged in the purpose of personal growth. However, due to the lack of time, or will, or even an education that privileged or stimulated visits to museums, a very significant part of

Unearthing Mesozoic beetles through micro‐computed tomography: A new family of Archostemata and the first representatives of Ommatidae and †Notocupes from the Crato Formation

open access: yesSystematic Entomology, Volume 51, Issue 3, July‐September 2026.
First formally described Archostemata beetles from the Lower Cretaceous Crato Formation are reported, representing the earliest records of the suborder from western Gondwana. Micro‐computed tomography enabled three‐dimensional reconstruction of partially exposed fossils, revealing previously hidden dorsal and ventral morphological characters relevant ...

Phylogeny‐based generic delimitations of the diverse leafhopper tribe Gyponini, including the establishment of a new tribe of Iassinae (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae)

open access: yesSystematic Entomology, Volume 51, Issue 3, July‐September 2026.
Phylogenetic relationships among 97.6% of Gyponini genera and 97.4% of subgenera were inferred using morphological and multilocus molecular data. Analyses support the monophyly of Gyponini, transfer Hoplojassini to Hylicinae and establish Chilenanini trib. nov. within Iassinae.

Interplay Between River Formation and Historical Climatic Changes Drove Diversification of the Thamnomanes caesius and T. schistogynus (Passeriformes, Thamnophilidae) Species Complex Across Amazonian and Atlantic Forests

open access: yesZoologica Scripta, Volume 55, Issue 4, Page 555-567, July 2026.
ABSTRACT The Amazon and Atlantic forests harbour immense biodiversity shaped by complex evolutionary history with diverse processes leading to species build‐up. We investigated the Cinereous Antshrike species complex (Thamnomanes caesius and T. schistogynus) to disentangle the relative contributions of riverine barriers and historical climatic ...
