Neural Networks for Beat Perception in Musical Rhythm

open access: yesFrontiers in Systems Neuroscience, 2015
Entrainment of cortical rhythms to acoustic rhythms has been hypothesized to be the neural correlate of pulse and meter perception in music. Dynamic attending theory first proposed synchronization of endogenous perceptual rhythms nearly 40 years ago, but

Choline Ionic Liquid for Long‐Term Stable Organic Electrochemical Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Choline‐based ionic liquid integrated organic electrochemical transistors (Chol‐OECTs) for improvement of performance and prolonged lifetime is demonstrated. Introduction of the ionic liquid into PEDOT:PSS and gelatin creates choline acetate ionic liquid‐infused PEDOT:PSS (CLiPS) and choline acetate‐gelatin (CAGel) electrolyte.

Musical pleasure and musical emotions [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2019
In a pharmacological study published in PNAS, Ferreri et al. (1) present evidence that enhancing or inhibiting dopamine signaling using levodopa or risperidone modulates the pleasure experienced while listening to music. This result is the latest development in an already remarkable series of studies by the groups of Robert Zatorre and Antoni Rodriguez-

Smart Theremin Based on Electromagnetic Metasurfaces for Fine Dual‐Hand Perception

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
The proposed Meta‐Theremin leverages a frequency‐spatial multiplexing metasurface to enable robust dual‐hand perception by shielding environmental noise and confining EM fields to interaction zones. Its physics‐informed neural network decouples hand‐specific echoes, enhancing accuracy.

An AI‐Enabled All‐In‐One Visual, Proximity, and Tactile Perception Multimodal Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Targeting integrated multimodal perception of robots, an AI‐enabled all‐in‐one multimodal sensor is proposed. This sensor is capable of perceiving three types of modalities, including vision, proximity, and tactility. By toggling an ultraviolet light and adjusting the camera focus, it switches smoothly between multiple perceptual modalities, enabling ...
