Arabidopsis Variegation Mutants [PDF]

open access: yesThe Arabidopsis Book, 2002
Variegation mutants have been defined as “any plant that develops patches of different colors in its vegetative parts” (Kirk and Tilney-Bassett, 1978). Some of the most common variegations have green and white (or yellow) sectors in normally-green tissues and organs of the plant.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Fixation probability on clique-based graphs

open access: yes, 2017
The fixation probability of a mutant in the evolutionary dynamics of Moran process is calculated by the Monte-Carlo method on a few families of clique-based graphs.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

IMPROVEMENT OF Chrysanthemum × grandiflorum (Ramat.) Kitam. ENCAPSULATION-DEHYDRATION CRYOPRESERVATION PROTOCOL

open access: yesActa Scientiarum Polonorum: Hortorum Cultus, 2014
To optimize the protocol, the shoot tips of Chrysanthemum × grandiflorum (Ramat.) Kitam. radiomutants have been cryopreserved using the encapsulationdehydration technique, following different approaches. In the experiment the influence of abscisic acid –

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

In vitro Susceptibility Study of Salmonella typhimurium Mutant to Stress Factors

open access: yesMedical Laboratory Journal, 2016
Background and Objective: In this study, we compared the susceptibility of Salmonella typhimurium phoP mutant and its parent to stress conditions that the pathogen may encounter in a host.

A Drosophila Mutant with a Temperature-Sensitive Block in Nerve Conduction [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
A mutant, napts (no action potential, temperature-sensitive), is described in which axonal conduction fails at high temperature. Synaptic transmission at the larval neuromuscular junction is unimpaired.
