Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Secure and Efficient Authentication Protocol for Underwater Wireless Sensor Network Environments Using PUF

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Underwater wireless sensor networks (UWSNs) are increasingly used in marine monitoring and naval coastal surveillance, where limited bandwidth, long propagation delays, and physically exposed nodes make efficient authentication critical.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

PAAS: PMIPv6 Access Authentication Scheme Based on Identity-Based Signature in VANETs

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Due to the advantages of low handover latency and signaling costs, Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6), as a localized mobility management protocol for next generation mobile network, can be well combined with vehicular ad-hoc networks.

From tumor‐centric to ecosystem‐based hypotheses in brain tumor research and care

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Primary brain tumors, whether in adults or children, present a major challenge because of their dramatic prognosis and the ongoing lack of efficient therapeutic approaches. In recent years, a shift has occurred from tumor‐centric concepts to a more holistic view of these tumors as dynamic ecosystems.

Economising international tax dispute resolution: transaction-cost perspective [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The unprecedented extent of globalisation, the growth of international business and global value chains, and businesses’ greater use of tax optimisation schemes have all spurred the proliferation of international tax disputes.

The Mutual Agreement Procedure: Coordinating the Global Tax Orchestra

open access: yesLSE Law Review, 2019
The OECD and G20, via the Base-Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) project, have recently taken measures under Action 14 to improve tax dispute resolution mechanisms by promoting the timely resolution of treaty-related disputes via the Mutual Agreement Procedure (MAP).

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐
