Mutual Inductance and Transformers

2021
A common transformer has a pair of coils: the primary coil and the secondary coil. A transformer operates on the principals of “electromagnetic induction”, in the form of mutual induction. A transformer is able to either increase or decrease the voltage and current levels of their supply, without modifying its frequency and the amount of electrical ...

Mutual Inductance between Piecewise Linear Loops

American Journal of Physics, 2013
We consider a current-carrying wire loop made out of linear segments of arbitrary sizes and directions in three-dimensional space. We develop expressions to calculate its vector potential and magnetic field at all points in space. We then calculate the mutual inductance between two such (non-intersecting) piecewise-linear loops. As simple applications,

Implant positioning system using mutual inductance

2012 Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2012
Surgical placement of implantable medical devices (IMDs) has limited precision and post-implantation the device can move over time. Accurate knowledge of the position of IMDs allows better interpretation of data gathered by the devices and may allow wireless power to be focused on the IMD thereby increasing power transfer efficiency.

Maximum of mutual inductance by inductive link

The 14th International Conference on Microelectronics,, 2004
This paper presents inductive link between various coils or various forms to protect the reserve of unidirectional energy and from bi-directional data in the implantables electronic devices. Study will rest on the increase of the efficiency allocated by the tolerance to the lateral, longitudinal and even angular displacement between the external coil ...

Calibrating Standards of Mutual Inductance

2005 IEEE Instrumentationand Measurement Technology Conference Proceedings, 2006
As the final stage of development of a new system for impedance calibrations, a facility for calibrating standards of mutual inductance has been realized. Being based on the three-voltmeter method, this facility makes it possible to calibrate 1 mH to 100 mH standards at frequencies up to 5 kHz with uncertainties of the order of 0.01 %.

Thermal Mutual Inductance

Nature, 1948
WHEN heat is dissipated from a hot body immersed in a fluid, the flow of heat is accompanied by a mechanical circulation of the fluid in the system of natural convection currents. The stored kinetic energy bestows on the heat current a property which has been termed ‘thermal ‘inductance, and curves I have obtained1 for the thermal transients consequent

A STANDARD OF MUTUAL INDUCTANCE

Canadian Journal of Physics, 1955
A primary standard of mutual inductance of the Campbell type has been constructed by the National Research Council to serve as an ultimate standard of reference for electrical quantities in Canada. The electrical value is computed from its measured physical dimensions. A detailed description is warranted in view of its national importance.

International Comparison of Standards of Mutual Inductance

Metrologia, 1968
Abstract : The National Research Council (Canada) and the National Physical Laboratory (United Kingdom) have each obtained the units of reactance and resistance from the metre and second by the use of similar Campbell standards of mutual inductance. A direct comparison of the units of inductance derived in the two laboratories has been made, using a ...
