Optimizing Large‐Scale Mathematical Assessments: Leveraging Hierarchical Attribute Structures and Diagnostic Classification Models for Enhanced Student Diagnostics

open access: yesEducational Measurement: Issues and Practice, Volume 45, Issue 2, Summer 2026.
Abstract Diagnostic classification models (DCMs) assess students’ mastery of cognitive attributes to provide personalized ability profiles. Retrofitting DCMs to large‐scale mathematics assessments usually relies on inferred Q‐matrices, which can reduce accuracy and diagnostic value.

States and Measures on Hyper BCK-Algebras

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2014
We define the notions of Bosbach states and inf-Bosbach states on a bounded hyper BCK-algebra (H,∘,0,e) and derive some basic properties of them. We construct a quotient hyper BCK-algebra via a regular congruence relation.

Understanding Multiscale Lithium Transport Dynamics in Composite Si‐C Electrodes: An Asymptotic Framework for GITT Experiments

open access: yesBattery Energy, Volume 5, Issue 3, May 2026.
This study introduces an asymptotic analysis to elucidate the multi‐scale transport mechanisms driving the relaxation dynamics in GITT experiments on composite Si‐C/graphite electrodes. The approach not only enhances physical understanding of coupled lithium transport mechanisms but also establishes a base for redesigning GITT protocols to achieve more

An algebraic approach to general aggregation theory: Propositional-attitude aggregators as MV-homomorphisms [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper continues Dietrich and List's [2010] work on propositional-attitude aggregation theory, which is a generalised unification of the judgment-aggregation and probabilistic opinion-pooling literatures.

Moderate Deviation Principles for Lacunary Trigonometric Sums

open access: yesMathematische Nachrichten, Volume 299, Issue 5, Page 1028-1044, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Classical works of Kac, Salem, and Zygmund, and Erdős and Gál have shown that lacunary trigonometric sums despite their dependency structure behave in various ways like sums of independent and identically distributed random variables. For instance, they satisfy a central limit theorem (CLT) and a law of the iterated logarithm.

On the Interaction of the Photovoltaic Response With Ferroelectric and Magnetic Domains: Magnetoelectric Control of the Photovoltaic Response in BiFeO3 Thin Films

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 10, Issue 9, 8 May 2026.
This study demonstrates tunable photovoltaic responses in pure, polycrystalline BiFeO3 thin films, controlled by external electric and magnetic fields. By aligning ferroelectric domains and leveraging magnetoelectric coupling, the photogeneration is amplified up to seven times.

Development and Evaluation of a Simple Geometric Radiation Absorption Model for Discontinuous Canopies With Ellipsoidal Crown Shapes

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Biogeosciences, Volume 131, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Large‐scale canopy models utilizing satellite data typically rely on simplified models to describe radiation absorption by vegetation. However, these models' accuracy can be limited when applied to heterogeneous row‐oriented canopies because of assumptions of canopy homogeneity, or oversimplification of the impacts of heterogeneity. This study

A new reference for changes in X‐ray scattering from water due to temperature changes at ambient conditions

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, Volume 33, Issue 3, Page 649-657, May 2026.
A newly measured reference dataset for the temperature differential scattering signal of water, acquired at the DanMAX beamline of the MAX IV synchrotron, is presented. The X‐ray solution scattering from water S(Q)H2O depends on temperature and density, a phenomenon that is utilized in, for example, temperature‐resolved and ultrafast time‐resolved X‐ray
