Autonomous Locomotion of Tensegrity Structure on Low‐Temperature Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A low‐temperature responsive tensegrity structure (LRTS) is constructed by integrating low‐responsive temperature liquid crystal elastomer (LCE) cables, nonresponsive cables, and stiff rods. The low phase transition temperature of LCE is achieved by introducing a new liquid crystal mesogen.

Different dispersion states of MWCNT in aligned conductive electrospun PCL/MWCNT composites

open access: yesFullerenes, Nanotubes and Carbon Nanostructures, 2018
This work presents the synthesis and characterization of oriented nanofibers made of polycaprolactone (PCL) and multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) obtained by electrospinning. The preparation of MWCNT/PCL solutions and electrospinning conditions were studied in order to maximize electrical conductivity of the composite and fiber alignment.

Nematic Liquid Crystal Composite Materials for DC and RF Switching [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Liquid Crystals (LCs) are widely used in display devices, electro-optic modulators, and optical switches. A field-induced electrical conductivity modulation in pure liquid crystals is very low which makes it less preferable for direct current (DC) and ...
