Solar Heating Enhanced Selective Recovery of Metal Ions Through Flowing Electrodes Enabled by Hybrid Carbon Nanostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A new electrochemical system based on a microporous hybrid of carbon nanoplatelets and nanotubes to selectively capture Ni2+ from wastewater is constructed. The system temperature rises rapidly when irradiated with sunlight, which enhances the Ni2+ removal rate by 250% and the selectivity by 53%, and the energy consumption is also reduced by 51 ...

Investigation of thermal properties of gadolinium doped carbon nanotubes

open access: yesФізика і хімія твердого тіла
Thermal properties characterizations for 10% and 15% Gd doped multi wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were investigated. TGA/DSC and TEM techniques were used for characterization.

Nano‐ and Micro‐Sized Solid Materials Used as Antiviral Agents

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Due to the rise of viral infections in humans and possible viral outbreaks, the use of nano‐ or micro‐sized materials as antiviral agents is rapidly increasing. This review explores their antiviral properties against RNA and DNA viruses, either as a prevention or a treatment tool, by delving into their mechanisms of action and how to properly assess ...

Wear behaviour of Al-MWCNT composites by varying MWCNTs concentration

open access: yesJournal of Alloys and Metallurgical Systems
The present study illustrates the mechanical and wear behaviour of Al-MWCNT composites by varying MWCNTs concentration (0 %,0.25 %, 0.50 % & 1 %) by weight in composites. These composites were synthesized through sintering in the muffle furnace after mechanical alloying which involved flattening and welding particles to form flake-shaped lamellar ...

Gourd‐Inspired Design of Unit Cell with Multiple Gradients for Physiological‐Range Pressure Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Gourd‐shaped micro‐dome arrays with coordinated modulus, conductivity, and geometric gradients co‐optimize sensitivity and linearity in piezoresistive tactile sensors. Under pressure, a solid upper dome embeds into a porous lower dome, triggering rapid contact‐area growth and series‐to‐parallel conduction, enabling unsaturated, intensity‐resolved ...

Novel Functional Materials via 3D Printing by Vat Photopolymerization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This Perspective systematically analyzes strategies for incorporating functionalities into 3D‐printed materials via Vat Photopolymerization (VP). It explores the spectrum of achievable functionalities in recently reported novel materials—such as conductive, energy‐storing, biodegradable, stimuli‐responsive, self‐healing, shape‐memory, biomaterials, and

A Printed Zinc‐Ion Microbattery with Extended Shelf Life and Durability for Energy Autonomous Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a fully printed aqueous zinc‐ion microbattery (ZnIB) enabled by graphene‐decorated zinc anode and printed MnO@NC cathode using sustainable aqueous‐based ink formulations. The printed 3D electrodes ensure uniform zinc deposition, low overpotential, and long‐term stability.

On the positron annihilation spectroscopy and tensile behavior of COOH-MWCNT/epoxy nanocomposites [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Particle Science and Technology
Positron Annihilation Lifetime Spectroscopy (PALS) is sensitive to the material voids/free volume on the atomic scale. For this reason, this method has been used as a unique technology to measure the free volume and structural defects in polymers in ...
