Hurricane Precipitation Retrieval Using FY-3C MWRI Brightness Temperature
2021 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium IGARSS, 2021A rainfall retrieval algorithm for tropical cyclones based on dual-polarized brightness temperature (Tb) from the Fengyun 3C (FY-3C) Microwave Radiation Imager (MWRI) radiometer is presented. Since the nonlinear relationship between rain rate and Tb, the “beamfilling effect” is corrected to make the liquid water absorption closer to the Mie absorption.

Evaluation of FY3B-MWRI instrument on-orbit calibration accuracy
2011 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2011Microwave Radiation Imager (MWRI) onboard the FengYun (FY)-3A/B satellites observes the Earth atmosphere at 10.65, 18.7, 23.8, 36.5 and 89.0 GHz with each having dual polarization. Its calibration system is uniquely designed with a main reflector viewing both cold and hot calibration targets.

Instrument performance and cross calibration of FY-3C MWRI
2016 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2016The MicroWave Radiation Imager (MWRI) onboard FengYun-3C (FY-3C) Satellite is a total-power radiometer observing earth surface and atmosphere at 10.65, 18.7, 23.8, 36.5 and 89 GHz with dual polarization. The on-orbit test of FY-3C MWRI was performed shortly after the launch of platform. Sensor performance factors include receiver sensitivity black body

Deconvolution technique for spatial resolution enhancement of MWRI
2015 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference (APMC), 2015Deconvolution technique is used in 18.7GHz vertical polarization channel brightness temperature data of MicroWave Radiation Imager of FY-3 satellite for improving the ground spatial resolution. This paper applies the technique to the simulation images of MWRI and compares the experiment results of existing noise and not firstly.

Characteristic Analysis of Typhoon Mufia from FY-3B MWRI Observations
IGARSS 2020 - 2020 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2020To analyze the characteristic distribution of the MWRI rainfall algorithm, six record observations of typhoon Mufia are selected as the case study for this study. Six track records of MWRI observations and AMSR-E GPROF2010 rainfall products are matched and selected to make the analysis and comparisons.

Comparison of SSMIS, AMSR-E and MWRI brightness temperature data
2014 IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2014Passive microwave remote sensing observations have been widely used for long-term global monitoring of the Earth. Passive microwave data can be utilized to obtain important parameters (e.g. precipitation, snow cover, sea ice and soil moisture) of the Earth system with relatively high temporal resolution and regardless of lighting and cloud conditions ...

Improvement of snow depth retrieval for FY3B-MWRI in China
Science China Earth Sciences, 2014The primary objective of this work is to develop an operational snow depth retrieval algorithm for the FengYun3B Microwave Radiation Imager (FY3B-MWRI) in China. Based on 7-year (2002–2009) observations of brightness temperature by the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer-EOS (AMSR-E) and snow depth from Chinese meteorological stations, we develop a ...

Retrieval of snow depth on sea ice in the arctic from FY3B/MWRI
2017 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2017Given the high albedo and low thermal conductivity, snow on sea ice is regarded as one of the key reasons for the amplification of the warming in polar regions. This study focused on the retrieval of snow depth on sea ice from brightness temperatures of the Microwave Radiation Imager (MWRI) on board the FengYun (FY)-3B satellite. After cross calibrated

Progress on FCDR of MWRI onboard FY-3 Series Satellites
2023A long time series fundamental climate data record (FCDR) have been developed using operational L0 data from Microwave Radiation Imager (MWRI) onboard FengYun-3 series satellites. This FCDR contains re-calibrated brightness temperature data from three MWRIs mounted on FY-3B/3C/3D satellites from 2010 to 2021.

Retrieval of Thin Ice Thickness from FY-3D/MWRI Brightness Temperature in the Arctic
2021 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium IGARSS, 2021Thin ice thickness retrieval algorithm was developed by using FY-3D/MWRI brightness temperature in the Arctic. The algorithm was based on the fitting function models between polarization ratios of MWRI brightness temperature from 36GHz and 89GHz channels $(PR_{89}$ and $PR_{36})$ and the thermal ice thickness.
