How Can FengYun—3G Satellite Precipitation Radar and Microwave Imager Unveil Multi—Phase Hydrometeors?

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 3, 16 February 2026.
Abstract The observations from Precipitation Measurement Radar (PMR) and Microwave Radiation Imager (MWRI‐RM) onboard FengYun‐3G satellite are first time utilized to derive multi‐phase hydrometeors in clouds. The FY‐3G hydrometeor retrieval algorithm utilizes the Advanced Radiative Transfer Modeling System (ARMS) as its core module. It incorporates PMR‐

A contingent valuation of smallholder farmers' willingness to pay for improved irrigation water supply in Egypt

open access: yesWater and Environment Journal, Volume 39, Issue 3, Page 275-289, August 2025.
Abstract This study employs a double‐bounded dichotomous choice contingent valuation experiment to investigate the willingness to pay (WTP) of 313 Egyptian smallholder farmers in the Nile Delta region for improved irrigation services. The results from probit and bivariate probit models reveal an inverse relationship between water price and WTP ...

Analysis of Satellite‐Ground Radar Reflectivity Consistency: First Evaluation Results of FY‐3G and GPM Precipitation Radar

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 13, 16 July 2025.
Abstract The FY‐3G Precipitation Measurement Radar (PMR), the world's second dual‐frequency satellite precipitation radar (SR), provides three‐dimensional precipitation structure data in mid‐ and low‐latitude regions, with performance comparable to Global Precipitation Measurement Dual‐frequency PR (GPM DPR).

Future Pathways of Water, Energy, and Food in the Eastern Nile Basin

open access: yesEarth's Future, Volume 12, Issue 12, December 2024.
Abstract The Eastern Nile Basin (ENB) countries of Egypt, Sudan, South Sudan, and Ethiopia are subject to pronounced water, energy, and food (WEF) insecurity. There is a need to manage the WEF nexus to meet rapidly increasing demands, but this is extremely challenging due to resource scarcity and climate change.

A Mystery of the Inconsistency Between Microwave Polarimetric Observations and Radiative Transfer Simulations

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 51, Issue 21, 16 November 2024.
Abstract A factor of 2 difference is found between microwave brightness temperature (TB) observations and simulations from vector radiative transfer models. A physical explanation of this difference is related to the calibration process. In principle, for the calibration of polarimetric instruments of a total power radiometer, the radiation should be ...

Paracrine Ovarian Cancer Cell‐Derived CSF1 Signaling Regulates Macrophage Migration Dynamics in a 3D Microfluidic Model that Recapitulates In Vivo Infiltration Patterns in Patient‐Derived Xenografts

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 13, Issue 28, November 11, 2024.
Profiling macrophage infiltration using the 3D microfluidic device across human patient‐derived ovarian cancer models reflects in vivo xenograft infiltration patterns. Importantly, it is shown that chemotherapy treatment of cancer cells promotes macrophage recruitment via paracrine CSF1.

Matching of Observation Footprints in the FY-3G MWRI-RM Using BGI

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
There is often a lack of consistency in the footprints between satellite observation data, as well as between satellite observations and numerical models. This mismatch is typically caused by the different spatial resolutions of observed data in multiple frequency channels.
