A Density Functional Theory Study of Magnetic Transition in MnO2 adsorbed Vanadium Carbide (V$_2$C) MXene [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The work reports nonmagnetic behavior (0.04 $\mu$B) in two-dimensional (2D) V2C-OF MXene and ferromagnetism in MnO$_2$ adsorbed V2C-OF MXene. The density functional theory (DFT) calculations were carried out to study the magnetic moments of V$_2$C-OF and MnO$_2$@V$_2$C-OF MXene.

Novel highest-Tc superconductivity in two-dimensional Nb2C MXene [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Currently, superconductivity in two-dimensional (2D) materials is a hot topic of research owing to their potential technological applications. Here, we report observation of superconductivity in a 2D Nb2C MXene with transition temperature of 12.5 K, which is the highest transition temperature in MXene attained till now.

Maximizing the safety and sustainability of MXenes

open access: yesScientific Reports
Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) is a new regulatory concept guiding chemical and material innovation. The European Commission has recommended a two-stage SSbD framework and plan to revise it based on stakeholder feedback. The framework involves establishing key (re)design SSbD principles and assessment of the final innovation, however the ...

A Multifunctional Binder for Current‐Collector‐Free Zn Powder Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
By introducing abundant polar groups as Zn2+ absorption sites and hydrogen bond arrays, a protein structure‐derived binder for ZP anode and iodine cathode is proposed. This design can regulate the Zn2+ flux, benefit the formation of free‐standing electrode, inhibit the side reactions, suppress the shuttle effect of polyiodides, and enable the large ...

Simultaneous Isotropic Omnidirectional Hypersensitive Strain Sensing and Deep Learning‐Assisted Direction Recognition in a Biomimetic Stretchable Device

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Omnidirectional strain sensing is crucial in healthcare monitoring, human motion detection, and human‐machine interfaces. By mimicking the 3D structure of human fingers, this work introduces a novel heterogeneous substrate incorporating the involute of a circle which enables the device to achieve isotropic omnidirectional hypersensitive strain sensing ...
