Digital Dermatology

open access: yesJDDG: Journal der Deutschen Dermatologischen Gesellschaft, EarlyView.
SUMMARY Digital transformation is fundamentally reshaping dermatology, creating new opportunities in diagnostics, therapy, and healthcare organization. Large datasets combined with Artificial Intelligence (AI) enable more precise classification and prognosis, particularly through the analysis of clinical and dermoscopic imaging.

Colonization and extinction lags drive non‐linear responses to warming in mountain plant communities across the Northern Hemisphere

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Global warming is changing plant communities due to the arrival of new species from warmer regions and declining abundance of cold‐adapted species. However, experimentally testing predictions about trajectories and rates of community change is challenging because we normally lack an expectation for future community composition, and most warming ...

The Mycology as Forensics Tool [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In a murder case is very common to find a corpse in a grave followed by the human decomposition. In a criminal act, the facts in a legal investigation are not clear enough to help clarify unnatural causes of death by suicide or homicide.

Shikimate pathway disruption in yeast induces metabolite self‐assembly into toxic aggregates

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
In Saccharomyces cerevisiae, shikimate pathway disruption induces toxic metabolite assemblies. Deleting ARO4 plus phenylalanine (Phe) feeding causes Phenylalanine accumulation, lowers ARO3 activity, and triggers amyloid‐like fibril formation. Deleting ARO3 plus tyrosine (Tyr) feeding leads to Tyrosine buildup and similar fibril assembly.

First record of Scutellinia legaliae (Ascomycota, Pyronemataceae) from relict endemic Liquidambar orientalis forest in Turkey

open access: yes, 2018
In the current study, Scutellinia legaliae is reported for the first time from Turkey. In addition, this is the first report of this taxon growing in a forest under the relict endemic Liquidambar orientalis.

Caffeylpyruvate hydrolase from the bioluminescent fungus Neonothopanus gardneri is the key recycling enzyme in the fungal bioluminescence pathway

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Caffeic acid is a central metabolite in the fungal bioluminescence pathway. We identified and characterized caffeylpyruvate hydrolase from Neonothopanus gardneri (ngarCPH) and demonstrate its ability to hydrolyze fungal oxyluciferin into caffeic and pyruvic acids, confirming a complete and self‐sustained fungal bioluminescence cycle.

Deep and disseminated dermatophytosis in immunocompromised populations—A systematic review

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, EarlyView.
Dermatophyte infections of the dermis and subcutaneous tissue (i.e. deep dermatophytosis)—associated with secondary complications including pseudomycetoma and systemic dissemination—affect vulnerable populations with primary or acquired immunodeficiencies.
