Mycoplasma wenyonii and Candidatus Mycoplasma Haemobos in Pastoralists Cattle in Nigeria

Acta Parasitologica, 2023
The extensive migration practiced by pastoralists cattle exposes them to a variety of pathogens and vectors which may sometimes lead to severe disease outcomes. Moreover, the synergistic effect of multiple parasitism on the productivity of livestock has been well recognized.

Molecular detection of Mycoplasma wenyonii and ‘Candidatus Mycoplasma haemobos’ in cattle in Hokkaido, Japan

Veterinary Microbiology, 2008
Blood samples from 78 cattle were tested for hemoplasma infection using molecular methods. PCR and sequence analysis revealed that 17 cattle were infected with Mycoplasma wenyonii, while 13 were infected with 'Candidatus Mycoplasma haemobos'. Four animals were infected with both species.

Molecular detection of Babesia divergens and Mycoplasma wenyonii infection in cattle from Bosnia And Herzegovina

Parasitology Research, 2020
We report two cases of bovine babesiosis caused by Babesia divergens in a region of central Bosnia and Herzegovina. The cases were detected in June 2017 and July 2018 from two small backyard farms. Routine clinical assessments, including physical examination and haematology, revealed lethargy, fever, anaemia, leukopenia and haemoglobinuria in the ...

Detection of Mycoplasma wenyonii in cattle and transmission vectors by the loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) assay

Tropical Animal Health and Production, 2012
Mycoplasma wenyonii is a wall-less hemotrophic prokaryote with worldwide distribution. This paper describes the development of a LAMP method targeting 16S rRNA for specific detection of M. wenyonii in its vectors and cattle. The LAMP method is specific for M. wenyonii detection and more sensitive than PCR.

A Novel Hemoplasma Species Confirmed in Swine Reveals the Possibility of Interspecies Transmission of Mycoplasma wenyonii

2010 4th International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering, 2010
Abstract: A pig from a commercial pig farm was confirmed to be infected with hemoplasma by microscopic examination in Shanghai, China. However, PCR assay was always negative by using primers that specific of Mycoplasma suis. Therefore, primers that amplified the conserved region of 16S rDNA gene were designed.
