Cercospora beticola: The intoxicating lifestyle of the leaf spot pathogen of sugar beet

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 21, Issue 8, Page 1020-1041, August 2020., 2020
The hemibiotrophic fungus Cercospora beticola applies various virulence strategies to infect sugar beet and is currently only managed in‐field through integrated practices. Abstract Cercospora leaf spot, caused by the fungal pathogen Cercospora beticola, is the most destructive foliar disease of sugar beet worldwide. This review discusses C.

The AVR4 effector is involved in cercosporin biosynthesis and likely affects the virulence of Cercospora cf. flagellaris on soybean

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 21, Issue 1, Page 53-65, January 2020., 2020
Summary One of the most devastating fungal diseases of soybean in the southern USA is Cercospora leaf blight (CLB), which is caused mainly by Cercospora cf. flagellaris. Recent studies found that the fungal effector AVR4, originally identified in Cladosporium fulvum as a chitin‐binding protein, is highly conserved among other Cercospora species.

Plantio adensado não controla a sigatoka-negra da bananeira Dense plantation do not control banana black-sigatoka

open access: yesActa Amazonica, 2008

open access: yesFitopatologia Brasileira, 2002

Surgery or surgical defolation in ‘Grand Naine’ banana in the control of black Sigatoka in the state of Rio de Janeiro

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Fruticultura, 2018
‘Grande Naine’ banana (Musa acuminata - AAA) in the municipality of Angra dos Reis (RJ) has been affected by the Black Sigatoka agent, fijiensis Mycosphaerella(current name Pseudocercospora fijiensis); causing losses to local producers, mostly small ...

Efectos de los plaguicidas utilizados para el control de la Sigatoka negra en plantaciones bananeras en México, así como su efecto en el ambiente y la salud pública

open access: yesTecnociencia Chihuahua, 2020
Las plantaciones bananeras en México son fuente de generación de empleos, sin embargo, son afectadas por diversos patógenos, entre ellos Mycosphaerella fijiensis, causante de la enfermedad conocida como Sigatoka negra. El principal método de

The “Pesticide Chip”: Chemical Legacies and Agrarian Futures in Costa Rica

open access: yesAntipode, Volume 58, Issue 2, March 2026.
Abstract For decades, agro‐industrial capital has adopted cascading chemical and biotechnical interventions, or fixes, to secure accumulation through the cultivation of monocrops. We develop a framework that centres on how monocrop‐induced susceptibility to pests and pathogens—and the patchwork of fixes to address these—produces uneven chemical ...

The Genome of Pseudocercospora cladosporioides: A Step Toward Understanding Olive Cercosporiosis

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 75, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
Genome assembly and annotation of Pseudocercospora cladosporioides reveals pathogenicity‐related genes and provides a resource for olive disease management. ABSTRACT Pseudocercospora cladosporioides is the causal agent of Cercospora leaf spot, a defoliating disease of olive trees, particularly in the Mediterranean Basin.

A conserved GH17 glycosyl hydrolase from plant pathogenic Dothideomycetes releases a DAMP causing cell death in tomato

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 20, Issue 12, Page 1710-1721, December 2019., 2019
Summary To facilitate infection, pathogens deploy a plethora of effectors to suppress basal host immunity induced by exogenous microbe‐associated or endogenous damage‐associated molecular patterns (DAMPs). In this study, we have characterized family 17 glycosyl hydrolases of the tomato pathogen Cladosporium fulvum (CfGH17) and studied their role in ...
