Oligonucleotide fingerprinting detects genetic variability at different levels in Nigerian Mycosphaerella fijiensis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
DNA fingerprinting with synthetic simple repetitive oligonucleotides such as (CA)8 or (CAA)5 detected polymorphisms between various isolates of the ascomycete Mycosphaerella fijiensis, the causal agent of the black Sigatoka disease of Musa.

Influence of the season in the development of symptoms in plants of ‘Grande naine’ artificially inoculated with Mycosphaerella fijiensis in greenhouse

open access: yesBiotecnología Vegetal, 2011
Plant pathogen fungi required favorable conditions to invade and colonize plant tissues, which may change according to the season of the year. This work is aimed to evaluate the influence of different seasons (June-August and August-October) in the ...

Virulence and genetic diversity among isolates of Mycosphaerella fijiensis in two regions of Brazil

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Research, 2016
Black sigatoka, caused by the fungus Mycosphaerella fijiensis (anamorphic stage: Paracercospora fijiensis), was first detected in Brazil in early 1998 in the Benjamin Constant and Tabatinga municipalities in the State of Amazonas, near to where the borders of Brazil, Colombia, and Peru converge.

Quantification of Mycosphaerella fijiensis in vitro growth by absorbance readings

open access: yesBiotecnología Vegetal, 2013
The slow growth of Mycosphaerella fijiensis Morelet in synthetic and semi-synthetic media as well as the characteristics of their colonies makes the use of traditional methods for evaluating the fungal growth are inadequate and impractical. Therefore, it

Rhizobacteria with potential antagonist in vitro to Mycosphaerella fijiensis Morelet

open access: yes, 2020

Genetic diversity of Mycosphaerella fijiensis in Brazil analyzed using an ERIC-PCR marker

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Research, 2014
The Enterobacterial repetitive intergenic consensus (ERIC) marker was used to analyze the genetic variability of Mycosphaerella fijiensis, the causative agent of Black Sigatoka disease in banana plants. A total of 123 isolates were used, which were divided into populations based on their original hosts and collection sites in Brazil.
