ABSTRACT Objective To assess if an inexpensive, commercially available ultraviolet C (UV‐C) light device with a peak emission of 275 nm can inhibit equine keratomycosis‐associated pathogens located at different corneal depths in an ex vivo model. Methods A controlled, randomized experimental design.

Rosemary Essential Oil Microemulsion for Fungal Keratitis Treatment
ABSTRACT This study investigated the use of Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) essential oil in a microemulsion (ME) formulation for the treatment of ocular fungal keratitis, a serious infection that can lead to blindness. The ME was characterized in terms of pH, stability, homogeneity, osmolarity, and other physicochemical properties.

Antimicrobial prescribing guidelines for horses in Australia
The growing problem of antimicrobial resistance also affects equine veterinarians with increasing frequency. Antimicrobial stewardship and responsible prescribing are essential for a future in which effective antimicrobials are available, as it is unlikely that new antimicrobials will become available for use in horses.

A Review on Aspergillosis in Turkey: As a Main Fungal Disease in Poultry
ABSTRACT Background Aspergillosis, a fungal disease caused by various species of the genus Aspergillus, poses a significant threat to the health and productivity of turkeys. Objective The current review aims to synthesize current knowledge regarding the aetiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, diagnostic methods and management strategies ...

Spotted snakehead (Channa punctata) naturally infected with Saprolegnia spp. were confirmed by clinical signs, wet mount examination and histopathology. In the therapeutic trial using various chemotherapeutics, elevated temperature combined with 2% NaCl (T4) resulted in the highest survival rate (70%). ABSTRACT Saprolegniasis, caused by Saprolegnia spp.

Xenograft‐bearing immunodeficient mice are susceptible to developing unwanted disorders primarily irrelevant to nature of the xenografted tumor; and if get involved with such disorders, they do not produce reliable results, inevitably confounding the research outputs.

Mycotic keratitis: epidemiology, diagnosis and management [PDF]
Mycotic keratitis (an infection of the cornea) is an important ocular infection, especially in young male outdoor workers. There are two frequent presentations: keratitis due to filamentous fungi (Fusarium, Aspergillus, phaeohyphomycetes and Scedosporium apiospermum are frequent causes) and keratitis due to yeast-like fungi (Candida albicans and other ...

Carbon Dots as Bioactive Antifungal Nanomaterials
We review the use of carbon dots (CDs) as novel, fluorescent and functionalizable antifungal nanomaterials. After highlighting the features of fungi and the antimycotic mechanisms of CDs, we demonstrated that these nanoparticles could exert antifungal activity by themselves, with promising applications for the development of food packaging materials ...

From Mendel to mycoses: Immuno‐genomic warfare at the human–fungus interface
Summary Fungi are opportunists: They particularly require a defect of immunity to cause severe or disseminated disease. While often secondary to an apparent iatrogenic cause, fungal diseases do occur in the absence of one, albeit infrequently. These rare cases may be due to an underlying genetic immunodeficiency that can present variably in age of ...
