Myelolipoma of the adrenal gland is a benign tumor comprising adipose cells and mature hematopoietic elements. Most of these lesions are small and asymptomatic. Giant myelolipomas weighing greater than 4 kg are quite rare with three other cases reported in the literature. A case is presented of a giant myelolipoma that was resected surgically.

Myelolipomas are benign tumors composed of hematopoietic tissue and mature fatty tissue and occur primarily in the adrenal glands. Extra-adrenal sites for these tumors are rare. To date 37 cases have been reported in the literature with more than half of these lesions being presacral in location.

The CT findings of a proven presacral myelolipoma are described, illustrated, and discussed. This lesion presents as an encapsulated mixed but predominantly fatty soft tissue mass located in the extraperitoneal retrorectal space. It occurs in asymptomatic individuals usually between the 5th to 8th decades, with a slight female predominance and without ...

Myelolipomas are rare benign tumors often found incidentally due, in the majority of cases, to the fact that they are asymptomatic. The incidence of adrenal myelolipomas at autopsy is low (0.2%). These tumors are made up of fat and hematopoietic cells.

Authors present a case of giant adrenal myelolipoma, where the tumor was hormonally inactive but caused abdominal and flank pain. The huge tumor, a 20x18x10 cm mass, was surgically removed. The ipsilateral kidney was preserved.

Myelolipoma is a benign tumor originating from hematopoietic and adipose tissue. This tumor usually develops in the adrenal gland, but rare presentations of extraadrenal myelolipoma are also reported, which usually arise from the presacral region. Herein, we present a 6-year-old girl with myelolipoma with generalized involvement of her abdomen, pelvis,
