Myocardial inflammation is associated with impaired mitochondrial oxidative capacity in ischaemic cardiomyopathy

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1246-1255, April 2025.
Abstract Aims Myocardial inflammation and impaired mitochondrial oxidative capacity are hallmarks of heart failure (HF) pathophysiology. The extent of myocardial inflammation in patients suffering from ischaemic cardiomyopathy (ICM) or dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) and its association with mitochondrial energy metabolism are unknown.

Myocardial blood flow in the rabbit

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Physiology-Legacy Content, 1961
Internal calorimetry was applied to the study of blood flow in the rabbit myocardium. In the normotensive animal resting flow per unit mass of tissue was about double that in the liver. Blood flow was a linear function of mean systemic blood pressure. Autoregulation was not a property of the myocardial vasculature, nor was there any trace of spasmodic

Blood flow in myocardial hibernation

open access: yesCurrent Opinion in Cardiology, 1998
Myocardial hibernation is a state of persistently impaired left ventricular function in patients with coronary artery disease that improves after revascularization. It was thought to be caused by a chronic reduction in resting myocardial blood flow in a segment subtended by a diseased coronary artery.
