Granular Hydrogels as Modular Biomaterials: From Structural Design to Biological Responses

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Granular hydrogels are now emerging as promising biomaterials due to their inherent microporousity, injectability, and modularity. They have shown improvements in cell viability and migration, cellular/tissue infiltration, host tissue integration, mitigated foreign body response, and tissue regeneration.

Potential of predicting mildly reduced and reduced left ventricular ejection fraction in patients in the post-infarction period

open access: yesРоссийский кардиологический журнал
Aim. To analyze ischemic and reperfusion injury characteristics, as well as myocardial performance, to identify predictors of reduced left ventricular (LV) ejection fraction (EF) <50% 24 weeks after ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI ...

Time spent with cats is never wasted: Lessons learned from feline acromegalic cardiomyopathy, a naturally occurring animal model of the human disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
BackgroundIn humans, acromegaly due to a pituitary somatotrophic adenoma is a recognized cause of increased left ventricular (LV) mass. Acromegalic cardiomyopathy is incompletely understood, and represents a major cause of morbidity and mortality.

Strontium‐Containing Bioactive Glass Nanoparticles Stimulate Osteogenesis and Suppress Osteoclast Formation in Co‐Culture

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Spherical bioactive glass nanoparticles containing strontium inhibit osteoclast differentiation and activity, but promote osteoblast activity in osteoblast‐osteoclast in vitro co‐culture. The nanoparticles could be used for the treatment of osteoporosis.
