Three decades of research on the association between temporomandibular disorders and headache: A bibliometric analysis

open access: yesHeadache: The Journal of Head and Face Pain, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives To perform a bibliometric analysis of the scientific literature published over the past 3 decades on the relationship between temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) and headache, examining scientific production, citation impact, and the conceptual structure and temporal evolution of research topics in this field. Background TMDs are the

Layer‐by‐layer soft‐tissue effects on flexion–extension‐dominant passive ex vivo limb joint ROM in quadrupedal mammals: An anatomical contribution to a morphofunctional framework

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
Layer‐by‐layer passive ex vivo assessment of flexion–extension‐dominant limb joint ROM across rabbit, pudu deer, chilla fox and pig revealed joint‐, tissue‐ and taxon‐specific responses to progressive tissue removal. Proximal joints often showed increasing ROM, whereas distal joints often showed non‐monotonic responses.

Myofascial pain disorder: A narrative review

open access: yesTungs’ Medical Journal
The term “myofascial pain” was first coined by American researcher Dr. Travell in 1952. Myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) is characterized by myofascial trigger points and fascial contraction. MPS has received much attention from physicians.

Multiparametric Ultrasonographic Phenotyping of the Masseter Muscle in Temporomandibular Disorders and Clinically Defined Probable Bruxism

open access: yesJournal of Oral Rehabilitation, EarlyView.
Multiparametric masseter ultrasonography combines B‐mode morphometry, CSA‐derived sonographic estimated volume, strain elastography and fractal‐dimension texture analysis to characterise masseter muscle phenotypes in adults classified by temporomandibular disorder status and clinically defined probable bruxism‐positive phenotype.

Results of the post-registration clinical study “PARUS” on efficiency and safety assessment of Mydocalm-Richter for local injection therapy of a myofascial trigger zone [PDF]

open access: yesТерапевтический архив, 2018
Aim. The “PARUS” program included investigation of the analgesic, muscle relaxant and sedative effects of Mydocalm-Richter which acts as central muscle relaxant in patients with myofascial pain syndrome, taking into account its registered indication for ...

Oral Contraceptive Use Is Associated With Increased Tenderness to Palpation in the Masticatory System in Female Adolescents—Results of the Epidemiological LIFE Child Study

open access: yesJournal of Oral Rehabilitation, EarlyView.
The use of OC has been demonstrated to enhance the likelihood of encountering self‐reported headaches and increased tenderness to palpation within the masticatory system in female adolescents. ABSTRACT Background The utilisation of oral contraceptives (OCs) has been demonstrated to be associated with the self‐reported occurrence of headaches in female ...

Efficacy of Myofascial Release Therapy and Related Soft‐Tissue Techniques for Pain in Temporomandibular Disorders: A Systematic Review of Randomized Controlled Trials

open access: yesJournal of Oral Rehabilitation, EarlyView.
This systematic review evaluated the effectiveness of myofascial release therapy (MFR) for pain management in patients with myogenous temporomandibular disorders (TMD). Seven randomized controlled trials involving patients diagnosed according to RDC/TMD or DC/TMD criteria were included.

Effects of Dynamic Neck Sensorimotor Biofeedback Training in Individuals With Mechanical Neck Pain: A Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesPhysiotherapy Research International, Volume 31, Issue 4, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Mechanical neck pain (MNP) is commonly accompanied by pain‐related functional limitations, sensorimotor disturbances, and fear of movement, which together may contribute to persistent disability. This preliminary randomized controlled trial study investigated the short‐term effects of dynamic neck sensorimotor‐based biofeedback training in ...

Effectiveness of polarized polychromatic light therapy on myofascial trigger points in chronic non-specific low back pain: a single blinded randomized controlled trial

open access: yesBulletin of Faculty of Physical Therapy, 2022
Background Phototherapy has been used for the treatment of chronic low back pain. However, the effect of linear polarized polychromatic light (PL) has not been examined on myofascial trigger points in patients with chronic non-specific low back pain ...
