Proximal myotonic myopathy (PROMM) has been defined only recently, it is rather similar to but distinct from DM. A patient with undiagnosed myotonic dystrophy presented in pregnancy with a history of postpartum haemorrhage in her previous pregnancies. She had been operated on for cataracts. Problems arose after delivery which lead to the diagnosis of myotonic dystrophy being made at that time.
