Myotubularin-Related (MTMR) Phospholipid Phosphatase Proteins in the Peripheral Nervous System
Molecular Neurobiology, 2007Myotubularin-related proteins (MTMRs) constitute a broad family of ubiquitously expressed phosphatases with 14 members in humans, of which eight are catalytically active phosphatases, while six are catalytically inactive. Active MTMRs possess 3-phosphatase activity toward both PtdIns3P and PtdIns(3, 5)P 2 poliphosphoinositides (PPIn), suggesting an ...

Receptor Mediated Endocytosis 8 Is a Novel PI(3)P Binding Protein Regulated by Myotubularin-Related 2 [PDF]
Myotubularin related protein 2 (MTMR2) is a member of the myotubularin family of phosphoinositide lipid phosphatases. Although MTMR2 dephosphorylates the phosphoinositides PI(3)P and PI(3,5)P2, the phosphoinositide binding proteins that are regulated by MTMR2 are poorly characterized.

Abstract B031: Inhibition of mutant RAS via myotubularin related protein 7-mimicking peptide
Molecular Cancer Research, 2023Abstract The coiled coil domain of Myotubularin Related Protein 7 (MTMR7) and a peptide of the same sequence (M7CC) have been shown to have an anti-cancer effect via direct interaction with PPARγ (Weidner et al. 2020). The same studies also found an inhibition of ERK-mediated inactivation of PPARγ by the same peptide.

Myotubularin related protein 7 (MTMR7) is a key member of the highly conserved myotubularin related proteins (MTMRs) family, which has phosphatase activity. MTMR7 was increased during myoblast differentiation and exhibited high expression level at primary fibers formation stages in pigs. This suggests that MTMR7 may be involved in myogenesis.

Wnt Signalling Requires MTM‐6 and MTM‐9 Myotubularin Lipid‐Phosphatase Function in Wnt‐Producing Cells [PDF]
Wnt proteins are lipid-modified glycoproteins that have important roles in development, adult tissue homeostasis and disease. Secretion of Wnt proteins from producing cells is mediated by the Wnt-binding protein MIG-14/Wls, which binds Wnt in the Golgi ...

Myotubularin-related protein 6 is an ion channel-associated pro-leishmanial phosphatase
International ImmunopharmacologyResiding obligatorily as amastigotes within the mammalian macrophages, the parasite Leishmania donovani inflicts the potentially fatal, globally re-emerging disease visceral leishmaniasis (VL) by altering intracellular signaling through kinases and phosphatases.

Myotubularin-related protein-6 silencing protects mice from Leishmania donovani infection
International ImmunopharmacologyThe protozoan parasite Leishmania donovani resides within mammalian macrophages and alters its antigen-presenting functions to negatively regulate host-protective T cell responses. This negative regulation of human T cell responses in vitro is attributed to myotubularin-related protein-6 (MTMR6), an ion channel-associated phosphatase.
