Myrosinase Activity in Soil Extracts

Soil Science Society of America Journal, 1996
Abstract Myrosinase (β‐thioglucoside glucohydrolase; EC 3.2.3.1) catalyzes the hydrolysis of glucosinolates to form a variety of potential allelochemicals. Although these allelochemicals may exert an influence on soil‐borne organisms, the extracellular preservation of plant‐derived myrosinase in soil has not been ...

Postharvest storage and cooking techniques affect the stability of glucosinolates and myrosinase activity of Andean mashua tubers ( Tropaeolum tuberosum )

International Journal of Food Science & Technology, 2019
The identification and quantification of Glucosinolates (Gls) via UPLC® MS‐MS/PDA/qToF in ten mashua cultivars was carried out. Gls total contents were within the 4.9–54.2 μmol g⁻¹ dry matter range, of which 96–99% corresponded to glucoaubrietin.

The glucosinolate–myrosinase system in an ecological and evolutionary context

Current Opinion in Plant Biology, 2005
Functional analysis of natural variation in the model species Arabidopsis thaliana has enabled the cloning of many glucosinolate biosynthesis and hydrolysis genes. Variation in these genes is central to understanding the ecological role of the glucosinolate-myrosinase defense system, and allows us to dissect the evolutionary and ecological forces that ...

Sequence of a cDNA clone encoding the enzyme myrosinase and expression of myrosinase in different tissues of Brassica napus

Plant Science, 1992
We have isolated and sequenced a cDNA clone for the glucosinolate-degrading enzyme myrosinase from Brassica napus (oilseed rape). Using a probe derived from the cDNA clone we have studied the expression of myrosinase genes in different tissues of B. napus.

Comparison of Myrosinase Activity Assays

1987
Plant thioglucoside glucohydrolase (myrosinase EC 3.2.3.1) catalyzes the hydrolysis of glucosinolates to isothiocyanate, glucose and sulfate. We have purified myrosinase from white mustard seed (Sinapis alba) in high yields and with a considerable specific activity in a single step by affinity chromatography on Con-A Sepharose.
