It has been reported that the discharge of sexual products of scallop or abalone were artificially induced by simultaneous increase of temperature and alkalinity. In my experiments it was successful to make discharge the mature sexual products of Mytilus edulis by mere bathing its mantle piece in ammoniacal sea water of 0.008 normality (Table 1).
