Effect of atorvastatin on phagocytosis of the blue mussels, Mytilus edulis
Increasing concentration of biologically active pharmaceutical compounds can affect marine organisms. The bioavailability and environmental stability of these compounds make them potential threat to these organisms, specially the sessile organisms.

ABSTRACT The ecology of forests, their losses, and terrestrial wood decomposition dynamics have been intensively studied and reviewed. In the aquatic realm, reviews have concentrated on large wood (LW) in rivers and the transition from freshwater to marine environments in the Pacific Northwest of North America. However, a comprehensive global synthesis

Genetic Verification of introduced Mytilus sp. in Korea Sea Waters as Mytilus galloprovincialis
The differences between CO1 sequences of our mytilus samples and those of Mytilus galloprovincialis from South America, Kanagawa in Japan, North Atlantic, Auckland in New Zealand, and Hobart in Australia range from 1.4% to 5.9%. However, CO1 sequences of

The impacts of biological invasions
ABSTRACT The Anthropocene is characterised by a continuous human‐mediated reshuffling of the distributions of species globally. Both intentional and unintentional introductions have resulted in numerous species being translocated beyond their native ranges, often leading to their establishment and subsequent spread – a process referred to as biological

Tidal phasing drives intertidal heat stress and climate vulnerability
Abstract Intertidal organisms are exposed to extreme and variable thermal conditions due to periodic aerial exposure by tides. For sessile species that cannot seek refuge, heat stress is strongly influenced by the timing of low tides, which in semidiurnal tidal systems is governed by the spring–neap tidal cycle.

Biomineral proteins from Mytilus edulis mantle tissue transcriptome [PDF]
The common blue mussel, Mytilus edulis, has a bimineralic shell composed of approximately equal proportions of the two major polymorphs of calcium carbonate: calcite and aragonite.
