A Rare Case of Both Cardiac Myxoma and Left Coronary AVF, Diagnosis, and Management. [PDF]

open access: yesClin Case Rep
ABSTRACT We present the case of a 62‐year‐old woman who was diagnosed with both cardiac myxoma and left coronary AVF, and we go on to discuss the course of her treatment and the outcome. In conclusion, this case study highlights the rare coexistence of an atrial myxoma and a congenital coronary arteriovenous fistula in a 65‐year‐old woman.

Molecular testing of soft tissue tumors

open access: yesDiagnostic Cytopathology, Volume 51, Issue 1, Page 12-25, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Background The diagnosis of soft tissue tumors is challenging, especially when the evaluable material procured is limited. As a result, diagnostic ancillary testing is frequently needed. Moreover, there is a trend in soft tissue pathology toward increasing use of molecular results for tumor classification and prognostication. Hence, diagnosing

Combining of Oncolytic Virotherapy and Other Immunotherapeutic Approaches in Cancer: A Powerful Functionalization Tactic

open access: yesGlobal Challenges, Volume 7, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
Combining oncolytic viruses with anti‐checkpoint antibodies such as anti‐PD‐1, anti‐PDL‐1, and anti‐CTLA4 or CAR‐T cells can be effective in cancer therapy in a synergistic fashion. Oncolytic virotherapy induces the expression of PD‐1 and PDL‐1 in the tumor microenvironment components. Virotherapy promotes the infiltration of CD4+ and CD8+ T cells into

Pathological changes and viral antigen distribution in tissues of Iberian hare (Lepus granatensis) naturally infected with the emerging recombinant myxoma virus (ha‐MYXV)

open access: yesVeterinary Record, Volume 192, Issue 1, 7/14 January 2023., 2023
Abstract Background A cross‐species jump was confirmed in 2018, when a novel recombinant myxoma virus (MYXV) (ha‐MYXV) caused high mortality in Iberian hare (Lepus granatensis) in the Iberian Peninsula. Method The aim of this study was to evaluate the main lesions, tissular distribution and target cells of ha‐MYXV in Iberian hare.

A little less aggregation a little more replication: Viral manipulation of stress granules

open access: yesWIREs RNA, Volume 14, Issue 1, January/February 2023., 2023
Viruses depend entirely on host machinery and therefore aim to conquer the host and defeat its defenses to co‐opt its resources for its own replication. Improved understanding of how viruses counteract host immune responses such as stress granule assembly, detailed here, will inform future antiviral therapeutic strategies.

Radiomics analysis based on CT’s greater omental caking for predicting pathological grading of pseudomyxoma peritonei

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
The objective of this study was to predict the preoperative pathological grading and survival period of Pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) by establishing models, including a radiomics model with greater omental caking as the imaging observation index, a ...

Cardiac myxoma: The influence of surgical technique on long-term prognosis [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Biological Sciences, 2012
The aim of our study was to analyze the influence of different surgical techniques (left atriotomy, right atriotomy, biatrial approach and tumor basis solving) on early and late outcomes of patients operated on for cardiac myxoma.

Myxoma of the Ovary

open access: yesBalkan Medical Journal, 2018
Myxomas are benign tumors that generally arise from the heart, soft tissues, muscle, skin and bone (1). Herein we present a myxoma case found on the ovary. A 12-year-old girl was under follow-up for menstrual irregularities for 1 year and pelvic ultrasonography revealed bilateral para-ovarian simple semisolid lesions.
