MYXOMA is a rare solitary, soft, slimy infiltrative growth which never metastasizes. It is a peculiar form of mesenchymal tumor which reproduces the structures of the mucoid connective tissue of the umbilical cord (Wharton's jelly). It occurs in the heart, skin, subcutaneous and aponeurotic tissues, and the genitourinary tract.

Most writers speak of odontogenic and osteogenic myxomas of the jaws. The odontogenic variety is thought to arise from the mesenchymal papilla of t.he developing tooth, either before or after calcification has begun, whereas the osteogenic type can arise from any disturbed mesenchymal focus in the bone.

Myxoma of the jaw bone is a peculiar and rare tumor. A case of myxoma of the mandible is described in a 38-year-old man. The plain X-ray showed multiple osteolytic destructive lesions in the molar root area. CT scans demonstrated osteolytic expansile lesions with mild enhancement of the solid portion of the mass.

Evaluation of the potential predictors of embolism in patients with left atrial myxoma
Echocardiography, 2019Cardiac myxomas are the most common primary intracardiac tumors. Although myxomas are histologically benign, they are potentially dangerous due to potential risk of systemic and cerebral embolism.

Although cardiac myxomas are histologically benign, they may be lethal because of their strategic position. They can mimic not only every cardiac disease but also infective, immunologic, and malignant processes. Myxomas must therefore be included in the differential diagnosis of valvular heart disease, cardiac insufficiency, cardiomegaly, bacterial ...

The microscopic findings reported fulfill Stout's criteria for "myxoma". Stout observed ten myxomata of bone and collected sixteen cases from the literature. Most of them occurred in the jaws, mainly in the mandible, and the rest in the long and flat bones, metatarsals, and phalanges.

Myxoma is a rare bone tumor of the jaws. The exact aetiology and pathogenesis of this tumor still remains obscure. The tumor is frequently seen in young adults and in the mandible. Enucleation or local curetting have been recommended in the literature as the treatments of choice, although some authors have suggested more radical procedures because of ...
