Myxopapillary ependymoma with anaplastic features

A case of myxopapillary ependymoma with anaplastic features in 15‐year‐old boy is reported. The tumor was located in the intradural space extending to the 12th thoracic to 2nd lumbar vertebral level. It was excised with the accompanying spinal arch of the T12 to L2 vertebra.

Myxopapillary ependymoma of the fourth ventricle

Myxopapillary ependymoma is a benign variant of ependymoma, occurring almost exclusively in the cauda equina region of the back. Here, we report an extremely rare case of primary myxopapillary ependymoma, and also present our review of the existing literature. This tumor occurred in the fourth ventricle of a 62-year-old woman.

Myxopapillary Ependymoma

Myxopapillary ependymomas (MPEs) are a variant of the spinal ependymomas, which are common in the conus medullaris and filum terminale in the sacrococcygeal region. Approximately 13 % of the spinal ependymomas are myxopapillary ependymomas. These tumors are usually a gradual development.
