Clinicopathological and Immunological Changes in Indian Post Kala‐Azar Dermal Leishmaniasis (PKDL) Cases in relation to Treatment: A Retrospective Study

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2015, Issue 1, 2015., 2015
Post‐kala‐azar dermal leishmaniasis (PKDL) is an important factor in kala‐azar transmission; hence its early detection and assessment of effective treatment is very important for disease control. In present study on 60 PKDL cases presented with macular, mixed papulonodular, or erythematous lesions, Leishmania parasites were demonstrated microscopically

Metastatic Basal Cell Carcinoma: A Biological Continuum of Basal Cell Carcinoma?

open access: yesCase Reports in Dermatological Medicine, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) accounts for 80% of all nonmelanoma skin cancers. Its metastasis is extremely rare, ranging between 0.0028 and 0.55 of all BCC cases. The usual metastasis to lymph nodes, lungs, bones, or skin is from the primary tumor situated in the head and neck region in nearly 85% cases.

Focus on Basal Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesJournal of Skin Cancer, Volume 2011, Issue 1, 2011., 2011
Nonmelanoma skin cancers (NMSCs), which include basal and squamous cell cancers are the most common human cancers. BCCs have a relatively low metastatic rate and slow growth and are frequently underreported. Whilst there is a definite role of sunexposure in the pathogenesis of BCC, several additional complex genotypic, phenotypic and environmental ...

Photodynamic Treatment of 206 Thin (≤ 1 mm) Basal Cell Carcinomas Using a Biphasic Activation Protocol: The Outcomes Over a 7‐Year Period and the Rationale Behind the Treatment

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, Volume 4, Issue 5, Page 1082-1089, December 2025.
Photodynamic treatment using a 2‐phased activation protocol consisting of red light followed immediately by IPL delivered with mechanical pressure to squeeze out blood was highly successful in a group of 206 thin BCCs ( ≤ 1 mm maximum thickness). Optical coherence tomography (OCT) was used for triage and to monitor outcomes.

Ulcerative Granular Cell Tumor: A Clinicopathological and Immunohistochemical Study

open access: yesJournal of Skin Cancer, Volume 2011, Issue 1, 2011., 2011
Granular cell tumor (GCT) is uncommonly presented with cutaneous ulcer. We examined the clinicopathological and immunohistochemical features of this ulcerative form in fourteen cases that may raise the awareness of this variant. The study included 11 males and 3 females with a mean age 31.5 ± 7.42 years.
