B4GALNT4‐Mediated Glycosylation of PDK1 Activates the PI3K‐AKT Signaling Pathway to Promote Prostate Cancer Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies B4GALNT4 as a key driver of prostate cancer (PCa). It shows that B4GALNT4 glycosylates PDK1 protein at the N531 site, which stabilizes the PDK1 and constitutively activates the PI3K‐AKT pathway. This mechanism promotes tumor cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. The findings establish the B4GALNT4‐PDK1 glycosylation axis as

Evidence for substrate assisted catalysis in N-acetylphosphoglucosamine mutase [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
11 pags, 4 figs, 2 tabs . -- Supplementary data is available at the Publisher's web pageN-acetylphosphoglucosamine mutase (AGM1) is a key component of the hexosamine biosynthetic pathway that produces UDP-GlcNAc, an essential precursor for a wide range ...

An Artificial Antibody‐Based Toolbox Accelerates Validation of Hidden Microproteins Encoded by the Dark Genome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microproteins are hidden treasures encoded by the “dark proteome” but remain largely underexplored due to the lack of highly efficient tools. We developed a molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs)‐based toolbox (CLAIMID) to achieve accelerated and ultrasensitive microproteins validation at multiple biological scales (single living cells, cell populations,

Identification and characterization of a glycosulfatase-encoding gene cluster in Bifidobacterium breve UCC2003 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Bifidobacteria constitute a specific group of commensal bacteria, typically found in the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) of humans and other mammals. Bifidobacterium breve strains are numerically prevalent among the gut microbiota of many healthy breast-fed

An Enzyme‐Like Catalyzed Nanosheets for Redox Stress Oscillation Therapy Against Bacterial Infections

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bacterial biofilms form a physicochemical barrier. Their dense network structure and redox homeostasis confer high resistance to antimicrobial treatments and immune‐mediated killing and clearance. In this study, SnSe nanosheets with enzyme‐like properties and piezoelectric catalysis can oscillate to regulate bacterial redox homeostasis and improve the ...

Succinylated Wheat Germ Agglutinin Colocalizes with the Toxoplasma gondii Cyst Wall Glycoprotein CST1

open access: yesmSphere, 2020
The glycosylated mucin domain of the Toxoplasma gondii cyst wall glycoprotein CST1 is heavily stained by Dolichos biflorus agglutinin, a lectin that binds to N-acetylgalactosamine.

The role of the mobile proton in fucose migration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Fucose migration reactions represent a substantial challenge in the analysis of fucosylated glycan structures by mass spectrometry. In addition to the well-established observation of transposed fucose residues in glycan-dissociation product ions, recent ...

Hierarchical Channeled Graphitized Nanoarchitecture as a Diagnostic Platform for Maternal Fever Warning

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a hierarchically channeled graphitized nanoarchitecture (HPGC‐Z67) as a novel nano‐diagnostic platform. It enables sensitive and efficient N‐glycan extraction from plasma, significantly reducing processing time and cost. The platform identifies pivotal N‐glycans to accurately differentiate between infectious and non‐infectious ...

5mC-hydroxylase activity is influenced by the PARylation of TET1 enzyme [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
5-hydroxymethylcytosine is a new epigenetic modification deriving from the oxidation of 5-methylcytosine by the TET hydroxylase enzymes. DNA hydroxymethylation drives DNA demethylation events and is involved in the control of gene expression ...
