Application оf alkane biological markers in the assessment of the origin of oil pollutants in the soil and recent river sediments (River Vrbas, Bosnia and Herzegovina) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2018
In this paper, an attempt was made to contribute to the use of biological markers, n-alkanes, and polycyclic alkanes of the sterane and terpane type, in the assessment of the source of oil pollutants in the environment using the example of the ...

Biodegradation of occluded hydrocarbons and kerogen macromolecules of the Permian Lucaogou shales, Junggar Basin, NW China

open access: yesEnergy Geoscience, 2023
Three kerogen samples (JJZG-1, JJZG-2 and JJZG-3) isolated from the Permian Lucaogou shales of varying biodegradation levels (BLs ≈ 0, 3 and 7, respectively) were subjected to sequential stepwise pyrolysis combined with on-line detection of gas ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Distribution and sources of n-alkanes and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in shellfish of the Egyptian Red Sea coast

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Aquatic Research, 2016
Aromatic hydrocarbons and n-alkanes were analyzed in shellfish collected from 13 different sites along the Egyptian Red Sea coast. All samples were analyzed for n-alkanes (C8–C40) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (EPA list of PAHs).

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Multiphase boundary of C16+ heavy n-alkanes and CO2 systems

open access: yesPetroleum Exploration and Development, 2017
N-eicosane, N-tetracosane, N-octacosane and N-dotriacontane, which are heavy n-alkanes, were selected to form binary systems with CO2. The bubble point pressures of each system were obtained through a series of constant component expansion (CCE ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Regulation mechanism of the long-chain n-alkane monooxygenase gene almA in Acinetobacter venetianus RAG-1

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology
As toxic pollutants, n-alkanes are pervasively distributed in most environmental matrices. Although the alkane monooxygenase AlmA plays a critical role in the metabolic pathway of solid long-chain n-alkanes (≥C20) that are extremely difficult to degrade,

Hydrocarbon Composition of Beeswax (Apis Mellifera) Collected from Light and Dark Coloured Combs

open access: yesJournal of Apicultural Science, 2014
The hydrocarbon composition of beeswax secreted by Apis mellifera was characterised. In the studies, analyses were made of virgin beeswax (obtained from light combs, socalled „wild-built combs“) that was collected at different dates, and beeswax obtained

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.
