Graphs with a given conditional diameter that maximize the Wiener index

open access: yesAIMS Mathematics
The Wiener index $ W(G) $ of a graph $ G $ is one of the most well-known topological indices, which is defined as the sum of distances between all pairs of vertices of $ G $.

Development of Micro-Pores Including Nano-Pores on n-Si (100) Coated with Sparse Ag Under Dark Etching in 1.0 M NH4F Containing 5.0 M H2O2

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2012
Specimens of n-type single crystalline silicon sparsely deposited with silver nano-particles on the Si (100) surfaces were put in 1.0 M NH4F + 5.0 M H2O2 to investigate their dark etching.

Revisiting two classical results on graph spectra

open access: yes, 2006
Let mu(G) and mu_min(G) be the largest and smallest eigenvalues of the adjacency matricx of a graph G. We refine quantitatively the following two results on graph spectra. (i) if H is a proper subgraph of a connected graph G, then mu(G)>mu(H).

Dynamic Precipitation during High‐Pressure Torsion of a Magnesium–Manganese Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrafine‐grained alloy is produced by high‐pressure torsion of solutionized Mg–1.35 wt% Mn. Precipitation of nanometer‐scale Mn particles during deformation provides pinning sites. This prevents the formation of a bimodal grain structure and results in a finer grain size than for pure Mg.

The relationship between diameter and depth of potholes eroded by running water

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, 2018
Geometrical analyses of 3930 potholes (3565 fluvial potholes, 237 marine potholes and 128 hillside potholes) from 33 localities in the world reveal a consistent, linear relationship: D = Nh + M, where h and D are, respectively, the depth and mean ...

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Tunnel lining studies II [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
In the CRREL tunnel (Fig. B1, B2), sublimation is extremely apparent, but because of the tunnels limited usage it poses no significant problems. However, in an operating mine with forced air ventilation and continuously operating machinery, the problems ...
