Water cluster triggered vitrification in HKUST‐1 MOF crystal under pressure

open access: yesInfoMat, EarlyView.
Water molecules in the pore centre form an oriented pentagonal water cluster via H‐bonding, which exerts a pulling effect on Cu–O(ligand) bond and induces bond cleavage. Meanwhile, the broken fragment flips into an unfavourable arrangement that prevents the rejoining of the bond, which finally causes a continuous porous MOF network in the glassy state.

Comparative Analysis of Chemical Reaction Mechanisms of Ammonia-n-Heptane Mixtures: From Ignition, Oxidation, and Laminar Flame Propagation to Engine Applications

open access: yesFire
The ammonia-n-heptane reaction mechanism is essential for simulation of the in-cylinder process for diesel-ignited ammonia engines. To gain insight into the differences in predictive performance among various ammonia-n-heptane reaction mechanisms, four ...

Analysis of Gene Expression in Aedes aegypti Suggests Changes in Early Genetic Control of Mosquito Development

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part B: Molecular and Developmental Evolution, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aedes aegypti, a critical vector for tropical diseases, poses significant challenges for studying its embryogenesis due to difficulties in removing its rigid chorion and achieving effective fixation for in situ hybridization. Here, we present novel methodologies for fixation, dechorionation, DAPI staining, and in situ hybridization, enabling ...

Obtaining Curvature‐Based HLD Parameters for Single Ionic Surfactants via Small Angle X‐Ray Scattering (SAXS)

open access: yesJournal of Surfactants and Detergents, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The hydrophilic–lipophilic difference (HLD) for ionic surfactant microemulsions (μEs) can be interpreted as the curvature normalized by the tail length parameter (L), if it is corrected by a factor “bi”, bi·HLD = HLDcurv = HLDbi = bi·ln(S) – kbi·EACN + Ccbi, with bi and kbi representing the curvature sensitivity to changes in salinity (S, g ...

Mechanical Reinforcement of Polymer Nanocomposites with Different Network Structure of Polymer Grafted Nanoparticles

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
Due to the different conformation structures of the grafting chains on the surface of silica, the nanoparticles contact each other by brush chains and bridge into a polymer‐mediated nanoparticle network in HDPE14K/HDPE1K‐g‐SiO2 PNCs, resulting in a more significant modulus reinforcement than that of PP370K/PP90K‐g‐SiO2 PNCs with a soft interfacial ...

Poly(sarcosine) Lipid Synthesis From CO2‐Based Sarcosine‐N‐Carboxyanhydride

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
In this work, we optimize and scale‐up a CO2‐based synthesis of sarcosine‐N‐carboxyanhydride (Sar‐NCA) to the gram scale. The low toxicity and simplicity of the approach make it an attractive alternative to current toxic phosgene‐based approaches. The CO2‐based Sar‐NCA has sufficient purity for controlled polymerization.

The effect of HZSM-5, HY, and TiO2 on the n-heptane selective isomerization of Pt/MCM-48 catalyst: Optimal experimental design and kinetic study

open access: yesResults in Engineering
This study presents a comprehensive kinetic investigation of n-heptane isomerization over micro/mesoporous Pt/MCM-48-(HZSM-5, HY, and TiO2) composite catalysts in the presence of hydrogen.
