This work demonstrates a double desymmetrization of meso‐dicarboxylic acids with symmetrical olefins, constructing complex chiral lactones with six stereocenters in one step. Unexpectedly, the halide bond was found to be crucial in achieving high stereoselectivity.

A Plant‐Based Platform for the Production of Bark Beetle Pheromones
ABSTRACT Bark beetle species of the genera Ips and Dendroctonus represent a threat to forests in both North America and Europe. Under normal circumstances, these beetles recycle dying trees into nutrients, but under certain conditions, growing populations can overcome healthy tree defenses and cause severe economic loss in forestry.

Characterizing droplet combustion of pure and multi-component liquid fuels in a microgravity environment [PDF]
The importance of understanding the effects of fuel composition, length scales, and other parameters on the combustion of liquid fuels has motivated the examination of simple flames which have easily characterized flow fields and hence, the potential of ...

Through systematic developments in catalyst design, we report a series of exceptionally active on iron catalysts for the polymerization of ethylene that can run at high operating temperature forming highly linear polyethylene waxes with narrow dispersity and high levels of vinyl chain ends that could be influenced by the operating temperature.
