Study of network composition in interpenetrating polymer networks of poly(N isopropylacrylamide) microgels:the role of poly(acrylic acid)

open access: yes, 2019
Hypothesis: The peculiar swelling behaviour of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM)-based responsive microgels provides the possibility to tune both softness and volume fraction with temperature, making these systems of great interest for technological ...

Evidence of a low-temperature dynamical transition in concentrated microgels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
A low-temperature dynamical transition has been reported in several proteins. We provide the first observation of a `protein-like' dynamical transition in nonbiological aqueous environments.

Hydrogel Thermostat Inspired by Photoprotective Foliage Using Latent and Radiative Heat Control

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Guided by Populus alba foliage, this hydrogel latent‐radiative thermostat (LRT) actively balances latent and radiative heat fluxes. An LRT switches solar reflectance, maintains high mid‐IR emissivity, and reversibly evaporates/regenerates water, while titanium oxide (TiO2) nanoparticles toughen the film.

Fluorescent Nile blue‐functionalized poly (N‐isopropylacrylamide) microgels responsive to temperature and polyamines

open access: yesSmartMat
Fluorescent poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide‐co‐Nile blue) (pNIPAm‐co‐NB) microgels were synthesized that exhibited fluorescence intensity changes in a water temperature‐dependent fashion.

Bioartificial polymeric materials based on collagen and poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2007
Films of collagen (CLG) and poly(N-isopropylacrylamide), PNIPAAm, were prepared by casting from water solutions. These bioartificial polymeric materials were studied to examine the influence of PNIPAAm content and glutaraldehyde vapor cross-linking on ...

Effects of polydispersity on the glass transition dynamics of aqueous suspensions of soft spherical colloidal particles

open access: yes, 2017
Thermoresponsive poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) particles of a nearly constant swelling ratio and with polydispersity indices (PDIs) varying over a wide range (7.4% - 48.9%) are synthesized to study the effects of polydispersity on the dynamics of ...
