Partial surgical avulsion of the nail in onychomycosis
Clinical and Experimental Dermatology, 1985Summary Twenty cases of onychomycosis were treated with systemic or topical antifungal agents and surgical avulsion of part of the nail plate. This technique is suitable for onychomycosis of limited extent and results in reasonable remission rates while reducing the time needed for systemic therapy.

The Journal of Hand Surgery: Journal of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand, 1988Dressings of the raw nailbed tend to adhere and to be difficult and painful to remove. We have compared three types of dressing: polyurethane sponge, paraffin-gauze and replacement of the finger-nail. Assessment of adherence and pain showed that replacement of the nail had significant advantages over the other dressings.
