Delivery by Dendritic Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles Enhances the Antimicrobial Activity of a Napsin‐Derived Peptide Against Intracellular Mycobacterium tuberculosis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 10, Issue 14, July 21, 2021., 2021
The activity of the antimicrobial peptide NapFab against intracellular Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) is significantly increased by loading onto dendritic mesoporous silica nanoparticles (DMSN). This enhanced activity is based on a 30‐fold increased, DMSN‐mediated peptide uptake.

Adsorption and release of ampicillin antibiotic from ordered mesoporous silica [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In this work the adsorption and the release of ampicillin - a β-lactam penicillin-like antibiotic - from MCM-41, SBA-15, and (amino functionalized) SBA-15-NH2 ordered mesoporous silica (OMS) materials were investigated.

Mesoporous silica nanoparticles functionalized with hyaluronic acid and chitosan biopolymers. Effect of functionalization on cell internalization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs), based on the MCM-41 matrix, were functionalized with amino groups, and then with hyaluronic acid (HA) or chitosan (CHIT) to fabricate bioactive conjugates.

Indian Schistosomes: A Need for Further Investigations

open access: yesJournal of Parasitology Research, Volume 2011, Issue 1, 2011., 2011
India is uniquely positioned with regard to schistosomes and schistosomiasis—discovering seven new mammalian species with the existence of three more schistosome species: Orientobilharzia turkestanicum, O. harinasutai, and Schistosoma haematobium(?). An endemic focus of urinary schistosomiasis was reported from Gimvi village of Ratnagiri, Maharashtra ...
