Quantum dress for a naked singularity
We investigate semiclassical backreaction on a conical naked singularity space–time with a negative cosmological constant in (2+1)-dimensions. In particular, we calculate the renormalized quantum stress–energy tensor for a conformally coupled scalar ...

Shedding light on naked singularities
Electromagnetic waves propagating in the background provided by a spacetime hosting a strong curvature, naked singularity, are fully studied. The analysis is performed not only in the realm of geometrical optics –which, not surprisingly, proves to be ...

Quantum Evaporation of a Naked Singularity [PDF]
We investigate here quantum effects in gravitational collapse of a scalar field model which classically leads to a naked singularity. We show that non-perturbative semi-classical modifications near the singularity, based on loop quantum gravity, give rise to a strong outward flux of energy.

NAKED SINGULARITIES IN THREE-DIMENSIONS [PDF]
We study an analytical solution to the Einstein's equations in (2+1)-dimensions, representing the self-similar collapse of a circularly symmetric, minimally coupled, massless, scalar field. Depending on the value of certain parameters, this solution represents the formation of naked singularities. Since our solution is asymptotically flat, these naked

Birth of a timelike naked singularity [PDF]
We investigate the causal structure of the Harada-Iguchi-Nakao (HIN)'s exact solution in detail, which describes the dynamical formation of naked singularity in the collapse of a regular spherical cluster of counterrotating particles. There are three kinds of radial null geodesics in the HIN spacetime.

Can Naked Singularities Yield Gamma-ray Bursts? [PDF]
Gamma-ray bursts are believed to be the most luminous objects in the Universe. There has been some suggestion that these arise from quantum processes around naked singularities. The main problem with this suggestion is that all known examples of naked singularities are massless and hence there is effectively no source of energy.

Naked Singularity Dries Up? [PDF]
We show a possibility of copious emission of gravitational waves from spindle like naked singularity which is formed dynamically from initially non-singular data as suggested in numerical relativity. We suggest that when the space-time approaches naked singularity, its gravitational mass may evaporate due to the emission of gravitational waves and ...

Naked Singularities in the Einstein-Euler System. [PDF]
AbstractIn 1990, based on numerical and formal asymptotic analysis, Ori and Piran predicted the existence of selfsimilar spacetimes, called relativistic Larson-Penston solutions, that can be suitably flattened to obtain examples of spacetimes that dynamically form naked singularities from smooth initial data, and solve the radially symmetric Einstein ...

Kerr Naked Singularities as Particle Accelerators [PDF]
We investigate here the particle acceleration by Kerr naked singularities. We consider a collision between particles dropped in from infinity at rest, which follow geodesic motion in the equatorial plane, with their angular momenta in an appropriate finite range of values.
