Leaf phenology determines the response of poplar genotypes to O3 through mesophyll conductance
The Plant Journal, Volume 121, Issue 5, March 2025.Significance Statement Ozone‐induced reductions in the mesophyll conductance of poplar were caused by leaf structural acclimation in clones with fast leaf turnover, but by ABA in clones with longer leaf lifespans. SUMMARY Tropospheric ozone (O3) is a phytotoxic air pollutant that impairs photosynthesis.
