Tropical cyclone Dikeledi underwent rapid intensification south of Madagascar due to interaction with anticyclonic eddies, high tropical cyclone heat potential and favourable atmospheric conditions. This study is important for regions that are usually not affected by cyclones of such intensity and may lack mitigation strategies.
