Revised taxonomy and stratigraphy of Middle Miocene calcareous nannofossils of the Paratethys
Micropaleontology, 2012The taxonomy of Paratethyan Middle Miocene calcareous nannofossils is reviewed and revised. Two new species, Syracosphaera croatica and Syracosphaera horvati, are proposed. Comparative study of coeval Neogene nannofossils from NHM and ODP (Ocean Drilling

Abstract This chapter deals with calcareous nannofossils or coccoliths. These range in size from 1-100 µ,. Preparation of samples for calcareous nannofossil study generally consists of pulverising the containing sediment in distilled water using a pestle and mortar, strewing some of the suspended mixture onto a slide using a pipette and ...

Middle Miocene Carbonate Crash in the Niger Delta: Evidence from Calcareous Nannofossils.
Journal of Nannoplankton Research, 2012Analysis of the Serravallian calcareous nannofossils from eight Niger Delta deep offshore wells shows, for the first time, evidence of the Middle Miocene carbonate crash from the Gulf of Guinea.

Nannofossils and biostratigraphy: An overview
Earth-Science Reviews, 1977Abstract Intensive biostratigraphic studies of calcareous nannofossils have been carried out for only about a decade, even though nannofossils have been known for over a century. Although coccoliths have been reported from various Paleozoic deposits, datable assemblages are known only from Liassic (early Jurassic) and younger strata.

Volume calculation of Paleocene calcareous nannofossils
2008During the past decades, volume calculation of extant calcareous nannoplankton has been performed in order to convert coccolith fluxes data into carbonate export productivity. The most useful and relative recent method to estimate the volume of coccoliths is described by Young & Ziveri (2000).
