On the account of surface tension nonlinearity under of nano-plate bending

Mechanics Research Communications, 2020
Abstract A nonlinear von Karman-type model of nano-plate bending was formulated incorporating the surface elasticity of Gurtin–Murdoch and basing on the Kirchhoff hypothesis. Unlike most of previous related theories, surface tension was taken into account with quadratic terms equal to the von Karman-type strains.

Size and temperature dependence of Young's modulus of a silicon nano-plate

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2008
A semi-continuum approach is developed for the mechanical analysis of a silicon nano-plate. The strain energy of the nano-plate required in the semi-continuum approach is obtained by using the Keating model. The calculated Young's modulus of the silicon (0 0 1) nano-plate along the [1 0 0] direction is size dependent and is different from its bulk ...

Formation of nano-plate silver particles in the presence of polyampholyte copolymer

Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, 2012
Abstract Poly(2-(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate-co-acrylic acid) polyampholyte copolymers were synthesized by radical polymerization of the co-monomers in different molar ratios (2–1, 1–1 and 1–2). The water solutions of the obtained materials were used as stabilization agents for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles.

Interaction of two-dimensional surface polaritons with metallic nano-plates

CLEO 2024
We theoretically investigate the interaction of two-dimensional surface plasmons (2DSPs) with metallic nano-plates. Our theory focuses on the reflection properties of strongly confined 2DSPs, including reflection amplitude and anomalous reflection phase shift.

Shear based analysis of nickel nano-plate by molecular dynamics simulations

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2018
The determination of shear based properties of Nickel (Ni) has a great importance since it is more likely to fail by shear than tension due to its ductile nature. It also features a wide variety of applications in structure, thin film, tubes, and plates due to its unique thermal and electrical properties.

An ultrathin quarter-wave nano-plate based on detuned plasmonic nanoantennas

Proceedings of the 2012 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation, 2012
We analyze and experimentally demonstrate the design of an ultrathin quarter-wave plate based on detuned plasmonic nanoantennas. We explore the theoretical possibilities offered by thin metasurfaces to manipulate the polarization state of impinging light, and propose an optimal design to realize quarter-wave metasurface plates, analyzing their ...

Size-Dependence of Elasticity of Phosphorus-Doped Silicon Nano-Plates

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
Elasticity of phosphorus (P)-doped silicon nanoplates has been investigated by a semi-continuum approach which captures the atomistic physics and retains the efficiency of continuum models. Youngs modulus of silicon (001) nanoplates along [10 direction is obtained by the developed semi-continuum approach. The results show that P-doping has an effect on
