Nano-antennas, nano-transceivers and nano-networks/communications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Nanotechnology is enabling the development of devices on a scale ranging from one to a few hundred nanometers. At this scale, novel nanomaterials and nanoparticles show new properties and behaviors not observed at the microscopic level. In the future, networks of nano-devices will be a key component of almost every field of our society, with ...

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

The toxicity evaluation of nano-trititanate with bactericidal properties in vitro

open access: yes, 2011
Three forms of nano-trititanate (H2Ti3O7 nanomaterial) were prepared by a hydrothermal method to replace nano-TiO2 for sterilizing the environment. The bactericidal capabilities of these nano-trititanates were observed to be more significant compared to ...
