Coincorporation of nano‐silica and nano‐calcium carbonate in polypropylene
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2011AbstractIn this study, various polypropylene (PP) nanocomposites were prepared by melt blending method. The effects of different spherical nanofillers, such as 50 nm CaCO3 and 20 nm SiO2, on the linear viscoelastic property, crystallization behavior, morphology and mechanical property of the resulting PP nanocomposites were examined.

Mesoporous silica nanoparticles: A multifunctional nano therapeutic system
Integrative Biology, 2012Efficient and safe drug delivery has always been a challenge in medicine. The use of nanotechnology, such as the development of nano drug delivery systems (DDS), has received great attention with high enthusiasm owing to the potential that nanocarriers can theoretically act as "magic bullets" and selectively target affected organs and cells while ...

Nano-fibriform production of silica from natural chrysotile
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2006Nano-fibriform silica was extracted from chrysotile by the acid-leaching method. The acid-leached residue of chrysotile has been studied by TEM, XRD, FT-IR, and thermal analysis techniques, etc. When the magnesium leaching degree (MLD) is over 90%, the nano-fibriform silica consists of hydrous silicon dioxide (above 90%) with small amount of magnesium ...

Nano Filter from Sintered Rice Husk Silica Membrane
Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2006A nano filter showing the Knudsen flow was demonstrated by a modification of a membrane constructed from rice husk silica. The membrane was prepared by pressing and sintering micron sized rice husk silica with 4 nm pores. The membrane showed a permeability of 5.2 × 10−8 mol m−1 sec−1 Pa−1 for H2 and ratios of gas permeability 2.1 and 3.2 for k(H2)/k ...

Self‐Assembled Silica Nanoparticles for Diamond Nano‐Structuration
physica status solidi (a), 2018Diamond with engineered nanostructures such as holes or nanopillars networks provides an useful platform for optical or photonic devices in which light can be extracted or confined. Moreover improvement of the structural properties of the material is expected after overgrowth of specific nanopatterns that can act as dislocation filters or stress ...

Alkali-Silica Reaction Mitigation Using Nano-silica and Fly Ash
2015Alkali-aggregate reaction was first observed in the US during 1920s. In the last several decades, several studies investigated the mechanisms of alkali-silica reaction in concrete and the extent of damage it may cause to the cementitious matrix. Research on alkali-silica reaction mitigation covers mainly the use of supplementary cementitious materials ...

USE OF NANO-SILICA FOR PREVENTING EXPANSIVE ALKALI-SILICA REACTION IN CONCRETE
2008The effectiveness of nano-silica (NS) in preventing deleterious expansion associated with alkali-silica reaction (ASR) was assessed using concrete mixes made with two siliceous aggregates of different alkali-reactivity. Concrete mixes were also made using condensed silica fume as a reference mineral admixture.
