Hydraulic performance of zero-valent iron and nano-sized zero-valent iron permeable reactive barriers – laboratory test

open access: yesAnnals of Warsaw University of Life Sciences - SGGW. Land Reclamation, 2014
Abstract Hydraulic performance of zero-valent iron and nano-sized zero-valent iron permeable reactive barriers - laboratory test. The hydraulic conductivity of zero-valent iron treatment zone of permeable reactive barriers (PRBs) may be decreased by reducing the porosity caused by gas production and solids precipitation.

Removal of Zinc by Nano-Scale Zero Valent Iron in Groundwater [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Mechanics and Materials, 2015
Groundwater has long been identified as potential alternative of clean water supply due to its reliable quantity. However, pollution of groundwater due to anthropogenic factor still remains a challenging issue. To date, nanoscale zero valent iron (nZVI) has received great attention for its capability to treat various contaminants including chlorinated ...

LCA applied to nano scale zero valent iron synthesis [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Journal of Life Cycle Assessment, 2017
Application of zero valent iron nanoparticles is an innovative technology for ground water treatment and soil remediation. There are several methods to synthesise nano scale zero valent iron (nZVI), namely through bottom-up methods which consists on chemical reactions using strong reducing agents.

Comparison of enhancement of anaerobic digestion of waste activated sludge through adding nano-zero valent iron and zero valent iron

open access: yesRSC Advances, 2018
The feasibility of adding nano-zero valent iron to enhance anaerobic digestion of waste activated sludge was studied by comparison with ZVI, and the mechanisms of NZVI enhancement of the hydrolysis and methanogenesis processes were elucidated.

Transport of Non-Newtonian Suspensions of Highly Concentrated Micro- And Nanoscale Iron Particles in Porous Media: A Modeling Approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The use of zerovalent iron micro- and nanoparticles (MZVI and NZVI) for groundwater remediation is hindered by colloidal instability, causing aggregation (for NZVI) and sedimentation (for MZVI) of the particles.

Beyond the Oxo‐Wall: Synthesis and Reactivity of a Six‐Coordinate Formally CoIV‐Oxo Complex

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We present the first example of a six‐coordinate formally Co(IV)‐oxo complex, [Co(TQA)(O)(OH)]+ (1), which exists as an admixture of CoIV‐oxo and CoIII‐oxyl resonance structures. Complex 1 is capable of performing oxygen atom transfer reactions and abstracting moderately strong hydrogen atoms at rates faster than other characterized CoIV‐oxo compounds.
